Experience the amazing growing climate and rich soil of Atlanta.

Our workdays at Doghead Farm are a great opportunity to get your sweat on, learn about growing food, and meet new people all while helping us to cultivate more food for Atlanta’s homeless and hungry.

From Kudzu to Crops

We transformed a neglected plot of land into a thriving urban farm.

The land once held a home until the 1970’s when it was destroyed. It was quickly overrun with kudzu and that’s how we found it in 2012: a literal kudzu jungle. With many enthusiastic volunteers, we transformed the neglected land into a farm.

Dig Smarter Not Harder

Innovative systems are essential to successfully operating a farm almost entirely on volunteer labor with no water!

One of our most effective methods has been the permaculture technique of hugelkultur — which translates as “pretty much nothing more than buried wood.” The wood soaks up loads of water, creates air pockets, and releases lots of Good Stuff into the soil as it decomposes. Sold.
