Okay okay…I know I’ve been late on this because it’s really cool. Several weeks ago, I received a phone call from the (as I would soon learn) unstoppable Pattie Baker about what to do about a laden pear tree up in Dunwoody. We were invited to help them harvest at 7:30am. She had arranged a police car to close the lane nearest the tree, and was potentially going to get a cherry picker to harvest the pears. As anyone who has ever been picking with us would know, we do things a little differently.
But pickin fruit is pickin fruit, and it worked out amazingly. A good dozen folks came out (including Josh, Emma, Robby and Janna from Atlanta — thanks yall!), and almost everyone was actively involved in the Dunwoody community or local government somehow. It was an impressive gathering. Together, we were able to come up with nearly 600 lbs. of pears in no time.
We were then given a tour of all the really cool things they’ve got going on up in Dunwoody, such as the huge and expanding community garden (from which they’ve already donated over 1,500 lbs. of produce), initiatives to get gardens in schools, and great food pantries. There was even talk of a Dunwoody branch of Concrete Jungle. We are of course excited by such chatter, and we will hopefully be working much more with our Dunwoody friends in the future.

Janna from Atlanta1 I know it was referencing the whole group. but tee hee hee… thanks for the shout out! That was an amazing group of folks for sure!! great post!
Awesome! 600 lbs is no joke!
